"Its a laugh a line from Alexander"
Greenock Telegraph

TWO friends, three cats, a space hopper called Denis and David Bowie. No, not the latest celebrity feature for Hello magazine but Squatting, the second offering in the Wolsey Theatres Pulse Fringe Festival. Perki and Mann share a flat but what Mann doesn't know is Perki doesn't own the flat, David Bowie does.

Not only does Ziggy Stardust himself own the property, but the rent Mann has been paying Perki goes not to Mr Bowie but keeps Perki's cats in jewel-encrusted flea collars.

After receiving notice to quit, the duo discover squatter's law that states after 12 years squatting at a property they can claim ownership and, guess what, Perki has been living there for eleven years, eleven months and 51 weeks. One more week and the flat is theirs.

On a bare stage, Squatting relies heavily on sound effects to boost the comic impact and here the sound department has excelled in producing a score that provides effects that have the audience reeling with laughter. Against this soundtrack, the two performers turn in perfectly timed comic performances, working off each other to provide a hilarious comic double act. Despite death in suspicious circumstances of the three cats, even the most hardened feline lover couldn't help but find themselves laughing at this hilarious production.

Well written, staged and performed Squatting follows the opening nights production of Ark in setting the standard for this years festival a high standard that will be difficult to follow, and in the tradition of the best disclaimers no cats were actually hurt in the creation of Squatting. What can I say I thought this show was great fun. I had some high expectations and was not disappointed. Some great lines, very amusing physical comedy and I loved the ending. My sis and I were very lucky to get hold of the final tickets for the show and I would happily go again today wasnt; my last day in the city. Hope to see the boys going on to great things - thumbs up!!

I have to agree with 'Disappointed in Scotland ' - the show was something of a let down. The David Bowie storyline had potential but didn't really hit the mark. The actors did indeed work hard but the material wasn't up to scratch. N.B This is an opportunity to give a balanced view of the shows and should not be used for personal attacks on comments made by others - James , UK .

I cannot belive that 'dissapointed in Scotland ' (are you too afraid or perhaps ashamed to use your propper name?)is talking about the same show I saw. The two actors work extremely hard and entertain us with an hour of fantastic physical comedy and a supurb original piece of writing. If you want deep thinking, pollitical arty-farty-wank (like many things on the fringe) then perhaps this show isn't for you ('dissapointed in Scotland ')! But if you want to see a good, witty and unoffensive piece of original theatre, go see it. Although make sure you book; I couldn't get tickets twice because it had sold out!! Well done boys!

Disappointed, Scotland

I'm afraid the show did not live up to the energetic description we we were given by Richard Mann in the Pleasance Courtyard. The 'David Bowie is going to evict us' situation had potential but instead we were treated to a the murdering of pets and a very whiny Perki - neither were very funny. Overacted and dull - sorry!

Very active, funny show with two great actors. Lots of film & Cult TV references a la Spaced. Both are great playing off against each other. And did you see the twist coming?
